Reconciliation Week 2025
During Reconciliation Week our Aboriginal students from both schools planted native purple hibiscus plants in a sunny spot alongside the staff carpark.
The purple native hibiscus is a special flower used as a symbol for National Sorry Day in Australia. It helps us remember the Stolen Generations — Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were taken from their families. The flower's purple colour stands for care, kindness and healing.
This plant can grow even in tough places, showing the strength and resilience of Aboriginal people.
Also, during Reconciliation Week, students from both Mosman Park Primary School and Mosman Park School for Deaf Children created a self-portrait with flags of their countries on the back and front of their bodies. Students included the flag from their country of origin and the Aboriginal flag.
