NAIDOC WEEK
NAIDOC WEEK was acknowledged, celebrated and enjoyed by students and staff with activities held each day that contributed to our understanding of the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The week started with storytelling and Welcome to Country and culminated on Friday with a Smoking Ceremony conducted by Neville Collard and the school song Under the Figtree sung in Noongar.
In between there were lots of cultural experiences and celebrations including kangaroo stew and damper, Blanket (experiential history) activities, Sercul Tree planting, face painting, boomerang painting and fence weaving. Students also painted a specially designed NAIDOC 2021 t-shirt or bandana designed by parent and local artist Kahlie Lockyer.
