Students at Educational Risk (SAER)
At Mosman Park Primary School our staff, parents and students are committed to building a stimulating, safe and inclusive environment where every child has the opportunity to fully develop their academic, social, emotional, physical and creative potential.
We aim to support the individual needs of all students, particularly those who are identified as Students at Educational Risk (SAER) through the provision of specialised programs. Students at Educational Risk can include students:
- who are in danger of not reaching their potential (including gifted and talented) or who are not achieving their major learning outcomes at an appropriate rate
- whose progress or behaviour differs noticeably from their own past performance or from that of their peers
- who are under-performing or who are not engaged in their schooling.
Our school makes full use of a range of evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs to support students in their learning. The programs are delivered by trained para-professionals and support staff and are implemented in collaboration with the classroom teachers.
These programs include:
- Synthetic Phonics Reading Program
- Volunteer Program – Explicit Reading, Guided Reading
- Explicit teaching – Mathematics
The SAER program is overseen by the Student Support Team. This team consists of the Principal/Deputy Principal, Learning Support Coordinator and School Psychologist.
